Self-Care Journey Month 7

How are we already in August? It’s crazy how fast the days are flying past. All of them are fading together, which is what happens when you’re working nearly seven days a week. You would think I’d be caught up on everything, but that’s far from the truth. I don’t work as long hours as I used to. I stop much earlier than before the virus hit, because I know I’m going to be working on the weekend.

This is why self-care is so important. Despite taking this year on my self-care journey, I’m still having to remind myself that I need to stop and take care of me. A few days will go past, and I think ‘what’s a few days,’ but those few days takes a bigger toll than I realized. It’s why I’m making sure I don’t let those few days go past without taking care of me.

For the past few months I’ve used this blog to talk more about free things that we can do for self-care, but this month I’d like to get back to talking about a few things that I’ve bought/used that has made a huge impact in my life. As I’m constantly trying new things, some work and some don’t.

First up, my favorite new thing that I found from a FaceBook ad (boy, they really know how to get me) is Apothekary. I love all natural/herbal things, and this company has hit the nail on the head. I’ve never really thought much about my hormones, but the truth is, I’m not that far away from menopause. But the minute I saw Seal the Deal, I was on board. For a month now I’ve been taking this mood and hormone balancing blend. And it has made a difference!

I also got the sample set of signature blends, and earlier this week I tried Mind Over Matter. Holy shit! Reducing stress? Check. Brain fog gone? Check. Energy boosting? Check. One day of this and I knew I had to have it in my life. But I didn’t stop there. I also bought Slay All Day (energy + immunity) and Chill the F* Out (relaxant + calm). This stuff is for real. So much so that even G is taking some of it. I put it in my tea, and there is a blog that gives lots of different ways to mix the ingredients into drink and food.

Another splurge was my silk pillowcase (again, another FB ad). I bought one a few years back off amazon, and it tore within a few weeks. This time, I figured if I was going to do it, I’d do it right. Since G loved my travel silk pillowcase, he also wanted one. So, I got two. It’s his favorite thing. And it has seriously become one of mine as well. I didn’t just stop with the pillowcase. I’ve also gotten silk hair ties for my hair at night – and they’re awesome! I got the Slip silk hair ties. I didn’t know they had pillowcases as well, but they’re selling one for nearly what I paid for two. I can’t remember where I got mine. :S But if you can find a company who has great reviews, then give it a try. We love ours!

I’ll close as I do every time because I think it’s important enough to say again and again and again: You aren’t alone. You don’t have to carry the weight of everything yourself. You’re stronger than you know, and there are others who are around if you need them. Please, please, take time for yourself.

XOXOX

What is it you like about the silk pillow cases and hair ties? Are they better for your hair or keeping you cool at night? I’m very curious. I like the look of the hair ties. Thank you for sharing.

For the pillowcase it helps your skin (less friction, helps retain moisture, and reduces wrinkles) as well as stops breakage of the hair for split ends and bed head. Since I put my hair up at night, the silk hair ties also stopped the damage regular hair ties have always done to my hair.
