Self-Care Journey Month 8

It seems like yesterday that I was writing the post for August, and here we are in September. On one hand, the days are passing too quickly, but on the other, I want to get out of 2020 (with the hope that 2021 and onward is much, much better!). A girl can wish, right?

The other day, Someone close to me said, “You’re always trying something new. I applaud you for that. Most people don’t get out of their comfort zones.”

I honestly hadn’t thought I was doing that, but looking back, I realize that’s exactly what I do. It’s not because I’m dissatisfied, it’s because new things catch my attention and I want to know if they’ll work for me. I don’t see anything wrong with that. There are some items/products that I’ve tried that have changed my life. Last month’s Seal the Deal from Apothekary, for one. I can’t say enough about this product, and I have several others that are now part of our daily routine like Mind Over Matter, Slay the Day, and Chill the F* Out. Yet there have been many, many other things that don’t work for me. I don’t get discouraged because I know my body is different from everyone else.

Speaking of self-care, let me touch on feminine products. That is also one area that I’ve been trying different things, especially going to all natural. I began using the Sustain brand a few years ago, but since it was all online, it grew a bit difficult when the flood happened and my life was upended. It was more convenient to go back to whatever was at the store when I was buying groceries. This year, I tried to find them again and found a slew of other options. Rael is what I’m trying now. I got them through Amazon. So far, so good.

Fast forward to about a month ago and I saw a FB ad for a company called Huha. Since I’m one who has to only wear cotton undies, I was immediately curious. I did some research on the company, and then placed my order. These underwear are fabulous! While they’re pricey, IMO, being comfortable is worth its weight in gold. No riding up, no itching, no harmful fabrics and soothes inflammation and regenerates skin of our most sensitive area. There are some sizes/colors that are on pre-order, and if you do pre-order them, you get 20% off.

One more thing I must talk about is my order from Cozy Earth. I blame this purchase on Rachel Van Dyken, lol. She spoke about the crew and sweatpants she got from them and how amazing they were. Since I get tired of wearing yoga pants daily, I was interested in finding something else that was cozy, pretty, and most importantly, comfortable. OMG. Y’all, they are AMAZING! I actually had them on when we had to evacuate for the hurricane. They were also nice enough that once we reached my brother’s, I didn’t feel the need to change when we went to grab a bite to eat.

They’ve got bedding, PJs, lounge wear (women AND men). And right now, they’ve got a 20% – 25% off sale! Hurry before they sale out! You won’t be disappointed in them.

I’ll close as I do each time because I think it’s important enough to say over and over: You aren’t alone. You don’t have to carry the weight of everything yourself. You’re stronger than you know, and there are others who are around if you need them. Please, please, take time for yourself.

xoxox,
