Self-Care Journey Month 13

The Month of Love. Most people take this to mean it’s only for couples. I call bullshit. I like to think of it as love for yourself, love for your family, love for your friends, love for your SO, love for the world. Just…love.

However, since I dedicate these blogs to self-care, let’s focus on love for ourselves. Because, let’s be honest. We can never give ourselves too much love. In the meditation I did this morning, I was encouraged to imagine hugging myself like I would someone I cared deeply about. That simple action left a huge impact on me. I think we need to tell ourselves often that we love ourselves, that it’s okay to mess up and learn from our mistakes, that it’s okay to forgive ourselves. We are the hardest on ourselves, and we need to stop that.

It’s all about changing our perceptions, attitudes, and beliefs. Not always an easy thing to do, but once you take that first step, each additional one becomes easier and easier. I’ve been doing this self-care for over a year now, and each month I learn something new. I also try new things, which for someone like me who prefers routines, that forces me to step outside of my comfort zone. Now, I’ll admit, not every one of those new things has been good. But what each has shown me is that if I try, I learn more about myself and the world around me.

My self-care routine includes all-natural or clean products. Back in November I got an alert from Sephora about this new “clean” mascara. I was instantly intrigued. Mascara is one of those things that I buy continuously because I’ve yet to find one that does what I want/need it to. I’ve come close a few times, then I inevitably try something new, throw away the bottle that I kinda liked, and promptly forget the name of it. So, my search is neverending.

Cue in Kosas, the Big Clean Volumizing + Lash Care Mascara.

Now, I was skeptical. I opened it and was ready to hate it. Except I didn’t. Is it perfect? No. But it’s clean, and the added benefits of helping support natural lash growth and repair is simply too good for me to pass up. My lashes are on the long side, though they won’t curl (unlike my hair) to save my life. This maskara coats my lashes and makes them look long and thick. Needless to say, I’m sticking with Kosas for awhile. I’m about ready to order my second bottle, which should tell you how much I like it.

For self-care you can feel good about!

Check it out at Sephora!

If you try it, please let me know your thoughts. And don’t forget to tell me any new clean/all-natural products you’ve found. I’m always on the lookout for something new.

Be kind. Be happy. Be healthy!
