Year In Review

2021 Year In Review

It feels like I just did my annual YIR, but here I am again. 2021 was a much better year for me. There were many ups and downs, but overall, I would put the year in the positive column. So, what did I accomplish, what did I miss the mark on, and what are my plans for the coming year?

For 2021 I…

  • Wrote 9 books, which came to 491,506 words
  • Released 10 books
  • Relaunched two backlist series — The Shields and the Royal Chronicles
  • I was on the fringes of burnout so took three weeks off of writing middle of the year, and again at the end of the year
  • Attended three online writer conferences
  • Set boundaries I hadn’t in the past
  • Discovered I’m a high empath, which led me to learn how to put up blocks so others’ emotions won’t bleed into me, and to also release any of those emotions that do make it through. (Game Changer!!!)
  • Moved and lived alone for the first time. I LOVE it!
  • Learned so much about myself in what my soul truly wants
  • Rediscovered my love of plants (my apartment is filled with them inside and out)
  • Added a fluffy, adorable, get-into-absolutely-everything-and-make-me-want-to-pull-my-hair-out kitten to the mix
  • Met several of my career goals

My goals are usually the same every year. One of my tops is always finding a balance between work and personal. I did it this year. A lot had to do with me taking a good hard look at things and setting those boundaries I mentioned above. I continued with my self-care, and even took it up several notches. That made a major difference in my life.

Hopefully, there will be some travel in next year. Right now I’m scheduled in July to be at Book Bonanza in Dallas and Apollycon in DC. September I’ll be in Louisville, KY for Readers on the River.

There is so much coming in the next year that I’m absolutely giddy about. More Dragon Kings, more Reapers, Skye Druids (yep. You read that right!), cowboys, and the relaunch of some other backlist series with new covers, along with audio!

From my heart to yours, I’m wishing you a very Happy New Year full of gratitude, health, kindness, love, and light.

xoxox,

DG

I’m so happy for you in that what you went through and still were able to accomplish for this year! You should be so proud of yourself! You are one of my favorite authors and I always look forward to your emails with news and especially for any of your books!
