Bonus Short – Sabryn and Kurt
I’m so happy you’re here!
Thank you so much for reading AFTER MIDNIGHT. As a token of my appreciation for loving the Skye Druids as much as I do, here is an EXCLUSIVE bonus short!

Sabryn walked into the bedroom holding a tray in her hands and softly kicked the door shut behind her. Kurt roused at the sound and sat up in bed, the covers falling away to show his magnificent chest.
A slow, sexy smile spread across his face. “Bloody hell, woman. You look good walking around in my shirt.”
His dress shirt had been the closest thing she could find to cover herself. She placed the tray of tea and snacks on the mattress. “If I knew you’d look at me like that, I’d have worn it sooner.”
“Is there anything beneath?”
His husky tone made her heart skip a beat. “Not a thing.”
“You’re killing me. You know that, don’t you.”
She grinned and handed him a mug. “I got hungry, and since you didn’t eat at dinner, I brought you something, too.”
“The thought of food earlier turned my stomach.”
Sabryn sank onto the bed beside him as she thought of the small service they had for his mother. “Believe me, I know the feeling. Have you heard from your dad?”
Kurt reached for his phone as he took a drink. “He made it home. He’s had no word from Parker. Oh.”
“What?” she asked at the surprise that crossed his face.
“Dad has adjusted his will to remove Parker.”
Sabryn grunted. “Good. Parker doesn’t deserve anything after what he’s done.”
“That’s not all.” Kurt continued to read the message before he looked up, meeting her gaze. “Dad has severed Parker from all accounts. He did leave money that was there, but Parker won’t be able to get anymore.”
Sabryn leaned back on the pillows as she chewed a tasty scone. “I’d love to see his face once he realizes that.”
“Oh, I’m sure he’ll be furious.”
“Not as angry as when he learns you’re still alive.”
Resentment shuddered behind Kurt’s gaze. “I’m eager for that day. He’ll pay for what he did to Diana.”
“And what he did to you.”
Kurt set aside his phone and leaned against the headboard. “If he hadn’t come after me, I would never have returned to you. I’d still be hiding behind the monitors. Yes, I’m furious that he nearly ended my life, but…” He turned his head to her. “I have you again. I can’t be mad about that.”
Sabryn rested her head on his shoulder. “I suppose you’re right. I don’t want to give him credit though. Can’t we give it to your mom?”
“I wholeheartedly agree with that motion.”
“Good. Then we’re together again because of Diana.”
Kurt reached for a scone. “Couldn’t you find anything other than sweets?”
“Nope. They were all gone,” she lied, not bothering to hide her smile.
“I forgot how much you love sweets.”
She laughed. “Carlyle knows. It’s why there is a constant supply of cookies.”
“Biscuits,” he corrected.
“Tomato, tomato,” she said and sat up to kiss his cheek.
He pressed his lips to her forehead. “You and Diana would’ve gotten on well. You two are a lot alike.”
“She’ll live on. We’ll make sure of it.”
“Thank you,” he said softly.
She held her cup between both hands. “What about your dad? Will he be okay?”
“I don’t know. I hope so. He declined to return to Skye for now, but he knows the dangers of returning home. I plan to keep an eye on him.”
“We both will.”
Kurt wrapped his arm around her and brought her close. “So. This is life now.”
“Yep. Are you happy with it?”
“I’m happy anywhere I’m with you.”
Their gazes met and lingered. They had managed to come back from something most couples would never have been able to get through. That wasn’t to say there wouldn’t be other issues in the future, but Sabryn knew they would fight for each other and their love. And that’s what made it all worthwhile.
